Help for someone you know

Finding out that someone you know and care about is using or may be using alcohol or drugs can be very worrying. You might feel like there is nothing you can do to help them, or find that it's difficult to talk to anyone about it.

There is always something you can do

This website has lots of information about how you can help someone with a drug or alcohol problem. The 'Information About Alcohol and Drugs' area has information about different substances, their effects, and advice on cutting down. The 'Keeping Safe' area provides advice to help you reduce the risks and harms associated with drug and alcohol use.

If the person using alcohol or drugs wants to get help, the 'Help for You' and 'Our Services' sections can help point them in the right direction.

And remember - it's equally as important to take care of yourself. There are organisations in Bolton which provide support specifically for families and carers of people who use alcohol and drugs.
