Why consult?

There are many individuals, including service users, their families and carers, voluntary organisations, service providers and key stakeholders who are directly and indirectly involved in the drug and alcohol treatment system in Bolton. Their experiences, views and opinions are vital when redesigning and retendering a new substance misuse treatment system.

Who to consult?

Prior to starting the tender process, the Drug and Alcohol Strategy and Commissioning Team (DASCT) facilitated an extensive consultation with service users. This begun approximately 9 months before the formal decision was made. Service users were involved in a 7 month long process of evaluation of the current treatment system/services. We asked the service users what worked, didn't work and what they would like to see that wasn't already there. Please click here to read the final report.

Following this a great number of face-to-face sessions, group sessions and mass communications took place with a number of people and organisations in Bolton regarding the redesign of the treatment system.

What was the feedback?

A full report was put together which details the different organisations included in the consultation, how they were consulted and what they thought. A copy of this report can be downloaded here.
