Bolton Community Alcohol Team (CAT)

Phone: (01204) 380948

Address: Giles House, 43 Chorley New Road, Bolton BL1 4QR (map)

The Community Alcohol Team (CAT) is Bolton's service for dependant drinkers. The CAT is part of the same NHS organisation as Bolton Drug Service. All staff are either qualified nurses or social workers. The CAT provides treatment and care for adults living in Bolton who have alcohol-related problems. People are referred to the CAT from ADS if it is appropriate for them.

The CAT can offer one-to-one counselling and support, access to home and/or in-patient detoxification and assessment and referral to residential rehabilitation.

If you are referred to the CAT, you will meet with a worker who will thoroughly assess any problems and issues in your life that alcohol is a factor in, and will help you set out your goals and decide the best steps towards them. Together you will build up a plan of what needs to be done, in what order and who else needs to be involved.

CAT workers can also help you to access a wide range of other medical and social care if needed.
